Joka viikko hän järjestää mahtavat dinnerin asukkaille, jossa tarjoillaan tuoretta kalaa ja portugalilaisia viinejä! Ikkunasta näet parhaat surffi spotit. 10-pistettä! Our week at the Surfcastle exceeded all of our expectations. We stayed in the Casa da Guarda, which was perfect for our larger group. It had everything we needed and being able to watch the surf from the kitchen and just outside the door was amazing. The atmosphere of the castle was very familial and staff and guests alike were welcoming and kind. Breakfast was great! As far as the surfing, João took the time to understand our ability level and set us up with the right gear, and our daily surf lessons were awesome. As beginners, we learned a ton and were able to sample a variety of spots around Baleal/Peniche and different boards. It was also great to be able to use the boards outside of the lessons, too. Before our surf trip, we had browsed around for the best place in Baleal to spend our week and feel really lucky to have chosen Surfcastle. It was perfect! ~ Max O

Had a great time at the Surf Castle together with my fiancé! Shared our time with a nice mixed group of fellow surfers. Surf sessions were great with Sebas (thanks!), equipment is all brand new which I personally really appreciate (as I had many bad experiences with this before, old wetsuits, etc.). I loved that the waves are only a few minutes walk away because of the place’s unique location. João (the owner) is great, and runs the place very well. Overall, the staff are super friendly and go the extra mile to make you feel cared for. We payed for a surf & lifestyle fotoshoot session with Andre, highly recommend it, the shots looked great! ~ Leon v

We had our first surf camp at surfcastle, and I have to say it was amazing! The castle is huge, one can find many types of rooms that will suit everyones needs. The common area are well equipped with really cosy atmosphere. And the view... its just breathtaking! Owner makes everything in his power to make your stay as memorable as possible, he is also very fun to hang out with and creates really good vibes in his place. I dont know if it's the surfing only or the place, but all the people staying there were really amazing, easy to talk to, fun to hang out with and they were also perfect companions for struggles with the waves. The surf course is also really well planned, the instructors who are really interested in helping you advance. They watch you closely and besides some general tips they give you really personalized feedback about what YOU can do better next time. I hope one day I will be back to surf castle for another surf course! ~ Katarzyna G

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Surf Castle. João was outstanding throughout. He was always warm, welcoming, and genuinely eager to help with anything we needed. He made the whole experience feel easy and relaxed, and was constantly available with great advice on local beaches, restaurants, and hidden spots to visit around the area. He went out of his way at times to help us get into Peniche, which made a huge difference to our trip. The accommodation itself was spotless, comfortable, and perfectly set up for a chilled stay. Perfect for a couple or family who is looking for a self-catering option. Waking up to breakfast with ocean views every morning was a real highlight, and being just a 30-second walk from the beach was incredible. We also really appreciated the gear rentals on site, which made it so easy to get out surfing without any hassle. Overall, everything felt effortless, well thought out, and genuinely welcoming. The location it’s the closest you could be from paradise! The house is super beautiful , well cleaned and organized and cozy. I always go back :) the staff is really friendly almost like family vibes.. you will feel home! João will help you with anything you need! He is a legend of a person and for sure you will go back home with another friend! The only problem about surfcastle is that once you go there you will be coming back all the time! The Surfcastle is the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in! The location is unique right on a cliff overlooking two sides of the ocean. Breakfast is delicious and the castle really reminds me of a castle due to the architecture and the furniture. Everybody should have experienced staying at this beautiful place at least once. Baleal is the nicer and arty part of Peniche. Better stay here than in the center of Peniche! Thank you Joao and your staff for this beautiful time! I will come back. ~ Lola K

Ficar no Castelo é uma experiência fantástica. A começando pela casa. É uma casa lindíssima com um inteiros magníficos que nos levam para o tempo das casa dos nossos avós e bisavós. A vista é deslumbrante com um ambiente muito cozy. O João é super atencioso a todos os hóspedes na sua casa. O pessoal são hiper prestáveis atenciosos e muito amigáveis. Sentimo-nos entre amigos. An absolute gem of Peniche! The castle is the perfect place to stay in the area, for travelling with friends, family, even alone (because you’ll meet awesome like-minded folks here). Such a good-vibe place we can call as a home away from home. It has the best views, and such good location for surfing since it has direct access to different surf breaks with different exposures, so it works every time! Joao is an AMAZING host, love this chap! We’ve been back so many times for the past 2 years. Stay away from room No.1, thats mine! ~ Rachel S

This is such a wonderful place on earth! The location is the best: the castle is direct “on” the beach and no other big hotels or houses are in between your view. Surfing is amazing in this region: we has a surf coach for a fairly small group (4 people) ans have annoyed our rides (incl. video analysis). This location has 3 beaches around, so that there is always a great wave to catch! Joao is an amazing host and makes your stay unforgettable. We will definitely return ~ La R

Le Surf Castle est un endroit magique ! On peut difficilement faire mieux niveau localisation, on voit les vagues par chaque fenêtre de la maison. L’ambiance est paisible et conviviale. Le château a gardé son âme tout en ayant des installations modernes et propres. Le petit déjeuner copieux et complet est un sacré plus avant ou après la session de surf matinale. João et son équipe sont très accueillants et arrangeants. Les planches à disposition sont de bonnes qualités et il y a pour tout les niveaux et styles de surf. Nous reviendrons ! ~ Noémie B

The Surfcastle is a simply awesome place and very well located just a few steps away from the beach, perfect for going to surf, doing some yoga or simply enjoying some time off in the beautiful garden, on the terrace with stunning views or in the cozy living room. Dois mares a norte e a sul confrontam-se no estreito desta pequena península que deixa a sul uma magistosa baía e a norte uma encosta de arribas e praia que se perdem no horizonte. Bem no centro o encadeamento de duas ilhas e um ilheu, uma salpicada de pequenos telhados lembrando conquistas de outros tempos e que contrasta com as seguintes que preservam o seu estado puro e natural. Num remate final, imponente e distante as berlengas dissipam-se no horizonte envolta em mistério e com promessas de outras aventuras. ~ Nuno F

It was our first surf camp as a family, and they made it so easy for us. Joao and his fantastic team immediately gave us the feeling "my house is your house." Andre, our surf instructor, was fantastic, both personally and professionally. We simply had a wonderful family time at the surf castle, which holds so many stories—plus, it's a special place! Surf castle is not just a place where to stay and sleep. Is an experience. I decided to travel alone in Portugal when I first saw this place casually and then decided that it could be a good choice to spend my time Could not imagine the wellness and the hospitality received thanks to Joao, the surf teachers and also the people guested during my week. Having stayed at 3 different places in Peniche, I can say that the Surf Castle was the best by a long way. Run by Joao, a cheery and merry host who keeps everyone smiling non-stop. Between the fact that I was right on the beach and that I rented my boards from the Surf Stash (cheaper than at any other place and in great state), I had the best surf set-up imaginable. ~ Felix C

One of my favorite places to stay. Joao is the best host ever and even spend a night cooking for us. When you stay at the Surf Castle, you feel like you are going to your family vacation home. Un endroit superbe: vue sur l'océan (avec lever et coucher de soleil) mais même plus on est devant ! c'est juste magnifique. Joao est un super hôte et transmet sa bonne humeur chaque jour. Les chambres sont belles et le côté vintage de cette maison centenaire nous fait sentir comme à la maison. Le petit dej est varié pour tout les goûts. La cuisine partagée est plus que suffisante. Le surf était parfait avec Seba qui est un super prof et s'est vraiment adapté au niveau de chacun (dont une enfant). Vraiment une belle découverte et déjà l'envie d'y retourner. ~ Léa R

Everything about this place is absolutely amazing. I spent a couple weeks in one of the rooms in the main house and not only is it a fantastic location for surfing the area, it’s also a super peaceful and productive place to “work from home.” The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Magical Experience at Surfcastle, Peniche! My stay was truly unforgettable, the view from the Surfcastle is absolutely magical, and the atmosphere created there is amazing. The Surfcastel is the place to be in Baleal if are in for some surf or just to enjoy the surroundings. The views from the house are amazing, from dawn till dusk. You can rent boards or bikes and take surf lessons. The breakfast in the morning is something special, enjoying the company of other guest and the company atmosphere of the house. 🌊🏄‍♂️🏰 ~ whatswrongintown

The pictures speak for them selves, but what they don’t show is the vibe and the friendly Staff, and the feeling of being in a surf timebubble, where all you needed to worrie about is catching the next wave….
